The ultimate quiet achiever, John Williamson has been a mainstay of our dairy research industry.

John worked in laboratories for the Dairy Board and Dexcel, joining Dairy NZ as a Lead Research Technician when it was formed in 2007. His focus has been microbiology and he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of mastitis, including treatment and trial outcomes. Author or co-author of many papers, John’s work in both the field and lab has supported the achievements of many others including numerous PhD students, vets, fellow Kudos finalists Farm Medix, Cognosco, the Southern Dairy Hub, LIC, Massey University and MilkTestNZ, as well as Dairy NZ. His analytical ability, meticulously maintained library of pathogens, collaborative approach to methodology improvement, contribution to the NZ National Mastitis Council and training skills have played a vital role over many years in one of our most valued industries.
