Awards Overview
History and Aim
The Hamilton Science Awards Trust was established in April 2007 and its aim is three-fold:
- To recognise the contributions of scientists working in the Waikato River catchment
- To encourage high school students to enter the sciences
- To raise the profile of science achievements within the Waikato community
2007 was the inaugural year for (the) KuDos awards and the Trust intends to hold the awards annually.
Cash rewards offered to scientists must be used to advance science in the Waikato region.

Judging Process
(the) KuDos judging process ensures credibility and prestige for the awards.
Here's how it works:
Five expert conveners will be appointed to judge the Agricultural Science Award, Environmental Science Award, Medical Science Award and the Science Educator Award.
These five conveners are responsible for putting their 'judging team' together, which will include one additional judge from within New Zealand and one international judge. All judges will have expertise in that discipline.
The five conveners will, together, be responsible for judging the Lifetime Achievement Award, Science Entrepreneur Award and Emerging Scientist Award. Judges will remain confidential until the award celebration event on 23th September 2010.
